Watch Star-Studded Earl Scruggs’ 100th Birthday Celebration Live From Nashville

Jerry Douglas, Béla Fleck, Del McCoury Band, Sam Bush, Sierra Hull, Gena Britt and many others will honor the pioneering bluegrass musician.

An impressive roster of all-star musicians including Jerry Douglas, Béla Fleck, Del McCoury Band and many others will celebrate the 100th birthday of late bluegrass pioneer Earl Scruggs at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville this Saturday, January 6. The tribute concert will air live exclusively on Veeps starting at 8 p.m. ET CT on Saturday night.

The livestream is free with an All Access subscription. Those without subscriptions can purchase tickets to view the broadcast for $14.99. The benefit for the Earl Scruggs Center in Shelby, North Carolina will only air live. There will be no rewatch period.

Jerry Douglas will serve as the event’s musical director. Others confirmed to participate are The Earls of Leicester, Gena Britt, Alison Brown, Sam Bush, Jimmie Fadden, Jeff Hanna, Sierra Hull, Justin Moses, Jerry Pentecost, Harry Stinson, Bryan Sutton, Tony Trischka, Michael Cleveland, Stuart Duncan, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, Jim Mills and Todd Phillips.

Groundbreaking musician Earl Scruggs was born in Shelby, North Carolina on January 6, 1924. He popularized the three-finger banjo picking style that became synonymous with bluegrass music. After a run in Bill Monroe’s band, Scruggs linked up with Lester Flatt to form the hugely popular and influential duo Flatt and Scruggs. The member of the International Bluegrass Hall of Fame won four Grammy awards, was the recipient of a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a National Medal of Arts. Earl Scruggs died at age 88 on March 28, 2012.
