Frank Zappa had a tradition of playing Halloween shows in New York City and while last night was not October 31, guitarist Dweezil Zappa celebrated Halloween on Sunday at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. Dweezil and his band were joined by special guest Ike Willis for portions of the show including on a debut cover of a Beatles classic.
The band formerly known as Zappa Plays Zappa all dressed up in costumes such as characters from Star Wars and Lemmy from Motorhead, though Dweezil and Ike appeared as themselves. Willis was on stage for many tracks from Joe’s Garage and more. Ike wasn’t the only guest as Julian Lage contributed to “Black Napkins.” Other notable moments included “Ride My Face To Chicago” interpreted as “Ride My Face To New York” and Dweezil’s debut cover of “I Am The Walrus” by The Beatles, a song his father performed during his 1988 tour.
