Tonight Fare Thee Well -Celebrating 50 Years Of Grateful Dead begins with the first of three shows at Soldier Field in Chicago that are billed as the last time Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir and Bill Kreutzmann will all share the stage together. Fare Thee Well has garnered more attention than any series of concerts in rock improv history. Even mainstream media is interested in these “final shows” as multiple national networks have devoted part of their morning shows to covering the Soldier Field gigs including CBS This Morning.

CBS This Morning sent correspondent Dean Reynolds to Soldier Field, where he spoke with both Kreutzmann and Fare Thee Well co-promoter Peter Shapiro about the band’s long strange trip. Both Billy and Peter give Reynolds a tour of the venue and discuss what brought the “core four” together one last time. Jerry Garcia makes an appearance with unearthed interview footage from 1989.
