Today The Word released their long awaited second album Soul Food, the supergroup’s first LP since their 2001 self-titled debut. In support of the new record the band featuring pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph, keyboardist John Medeski and North Mississippi Allstars -guitarist Luther Dickinson, drummer Cody Dickinson and bassist Chris Chew, will appear next Monday, May 11 on Conan.
In our recently published interview, Randolph discussed a variety of topics with JamBase including about the formation of the band, the recording process for their two albums and what to expect at the band’s live shows. The Word will perform at a number of festivals over the coming months including sets at Hangout, High Sierra, All Good, Forecastle, XPoNential and Gathering Of The Vibes.
