Dogs In A Pile came home to Asbury Park, New Jersey on Friday, December 15 and Saturday, December 16 for a two-night holiday run at the storied Stone Pony. Night one saw the band welcoming a trio of guests including renowned photographer Danny Clinch, singer-songwriter Anthony Krizan and guitarist Mihali for an extended sit-in including a Stone Temple Pilots debut.

Dogs In A Pile kicked off the three-set holiday show with a seasonal “Frosty.” Following “Can’t Wait for Tonight” and “Look Johnny II,” the band unfurled a substantial rendition of “Nicolette.” A hometown appropriate premiere of Steely Dan’s “Home At Last,” from Dan’s 1977 album Aja, followed before “Way To Be” wrapped up set one.

Set two got underway with “Ugly Song” before the band linked up “Tillie” and “It Gets Better.” “Go Set” then led into “Mr. Tooker,” which saw Danny Clinch joining the group on harmonica for the bluesy number. Dogs In A Pile kept the guests rolling with Anthony Krizan of Spin Doctors fame for “You Didn’t Hear It From Me,” a co-write between Krizan and Phish lyricist Tom Marshall. Next, Dogs In A Pile welcomed Mihali Savoulidis on guitar for “Trunk Rum” to close the second set.

Mihali returned with DIAP for the entirety third set, which got going with “Stranger” followed by “Today” and “Carved Lines.” The collab then went big on “G Song” which led into Mihali fronting the group on his band Twiddle’s “Syncopated Healing.” Mihali then helped Dogs In A Pile unveil Stone Temple Pilots’ “Plush,” a song that also existed in the Twiddle repertoire, with Savoulidis leading the way on a rousing rendition of the STP classic.
