Dean Ween Plays Whole Show With Ween Cover Band The Pod

The Pod kicked off the show with “Take Me Away.” Deaner came out for the next song, “What Deaner Was Talking About,” and stuck around for the rest of the night. The Pod and their guest rifled through a slew of Ween classics including “My Own Bare Hands,” “Tear For Eddie,” “It’s Gonna Be A Long Night,” “The Grobe,” “Waving My Dick In The Wind,” “Don’t Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy),” “Transdermal Celebration,” “Buckingham Green,” “Spinal Meningitis,” “Your Party” and “Gabrielle.” In a goosebump inducing moment Melchiondo -who was originally only supposed to perform on just one set, but decided to play all night -introduced “I Saw Gener Crying In My Sleep” by saying “for my brother.” From reading Mickey’s thoughts on Ween, it’s clear he misses his band, Gener, the music they made together and their fans. So it’s not surprising he embraced an opportunity to perform the songs he loves in front of a crowd of adoring Ween fans.
