According to a report from the New Hope Press, the band started out with a handful of songs as a four-piece before Heller emerged on lead vocals. “Gabrielle,” “It’s Gonna Be A Long Night,” “Piss Up A Rope” and “A Tear For Eddie” were among the Ween staples played by the Dean Ween Group in New Hope. The 90-minute set also included takes on The Velvet Underground’s “Sweet Jane” and David Bowie’s “The Width Of A Circle.” The New Hope Press notes that “Night Crawler” (written by Mickey and a John and Peter’s bartender), “Bums,” “I’ll Take It Break It,” “I’m Gonna Get High” and “One For Garry” were among the new tunes offered up by the Dean Ween Group.
We were also happy to see the instrumental “Dickey Betts,” Deaner’s ode to the former Allman Brothers Band guitarist, made the set. Check out Mickey jamming on “Dickey Betts” with Matt Sweeney in this video from 2013:
The Dean Ween Group now heads to Baltimore for a show at Ottobar tomorrow night.
