John Mayer took to Instagram to reveal tonight’s concert was canceled after his father suffered a “medical emergency.” This article has been updated to reflect the reason for the cancelation.
Dead & Company canceled their concert at SPAC in Saratoga Springs, New York that was supposed to take place tonight (Wednesday, July 6). The band initially cited “unforeseen circumstances” in an announcement before John Mayer shared that his father’s health issues led to the decision.
“This morning, my father suffered a medical emergency and was transported to the ER where he received much-needed and great care,” Mayer wrote on Instagram. “He is fairly stable and will continue to undergo some procedures, but as you can understand, I have to stay in NYC and can’t play tonight’s show in Saratoga Springs.”
The group featuring Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann along with Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti mentioned “the remaining Dead & Company tour dates are unaffected.” Refunds for the concert at Saratoga Performing Arts Center will be processed automatically via the original point of purchase.
Dead & Company are expected to resume the tour this Friday, July 8 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia. The band will then end the trek with stops in Philadelphia (July 10); Burgettstown, Pennsylvania (July 12) and Queens, New York (July 15 and 16).
