Tonight, Dead & Company was supposed to bring a triumphant fall tour to a close in Sunrise, Florida. Unfortunately, guitarist John Mayer’s appendix had other ideas. Mayer was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday for emergency surgery, which led to the postponement of the final three Dead & Company shows of the year.
Today, the band featuring Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart along with Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti and Mayer announced the new dates for the three postponed concerts. Dead & Company will play the three rescheduled shows in February after they head down to Mexico for the inaugural Playing In The Sand.
Dead & Company is now scheduled to play Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on February 24. Then, the sextet heads to BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida on February 26 before completing the run at Orlando’s Amway Center on February 27. Tickets for the original shows will be honored at the new dates.
