Dawes Announces New Album ‘Passwords’

The sixth Dawes studio album and fourth on their own HUB Records, Passwords, will be released on June 22. The band shared a trailer for the record that features the single “Living In The Future,” which comes out on May 10.
The current Dawes lineup of guitarist Taylor Goldsmith, drummer Griffin Goldsmith, bassist Wylie Gelber and (newest member) keyboardist Lee Pardini tapped Jonathan Wilson to produce the 10-track Passwords. Wilson produced Dawes’ first two albums as well.
“Part of the DNA of Dawes was shaped by Jonathan,” Taylor Goldsmith stated. “Those first two Dawes records have a certain essence to them. We were figuring out who we were. When it came time to produce our sixth album, why not go back to the guy who started it all with us?”

“I wanted to record them live and capture that magic that you can only get recording a real fucking band, that lives together and breathes together as a unit,” Wilson said. “There aren’t too many of those left, but I think we captured it.”
“We’re living in such a unique moment in history,” added Taylor Goldsmith. “Many of these songs are an attempt to come to terms with the modern world, while always trying to consider both sides of the story … Songs can be passwords because they’re a means of giving access to someone else’s perspective, thereby elaborating your own.”
Dawes will tour in support of Passwords, including this August while supporting Jeff Lynne’s ELO on the legendary group’s first tour in 30 years. Watch the trailer for the new album below:
