On Friday, David Rawlings will release his new album, Poor David’s Almanack, through Acony Records. The singer-songwriter’s third solo album has been made available to stream via NPR Music’s First Listen series in advance of its August 11 release.
Following 2009’s A Friend Of A Friend and 2015’s Nashville Obsolete which were released under the Dave Rawlings Machine moniker, the 10-track Poor David’s Almanack is the first issued under just his own name. Recorded on analog tape during a weeklong set of sessions at Woodland Sound Studios in Nashville, the LP was engineered by Ken Scott and Matt Andrews. Rawlings’ and longtime collaborator Gillian Welch appear on their eighth collaborative LP together alongside Taylor Goldsmith and Griffin Goldsmith of Dawes, Willie Watson, Brittany Haas, Punch Brothers’ Paul Kowert and Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor.
