David Gilmour Announces Podcast
Former Pink Floyd guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour announced a three-part podcast series marking the beginning of an auction of 120 of his guitars for his charitable foundation. The trio of podcasts will begin on Friday, May 31 via Spotify, Acast, Apple Podcast and Stitcher.
Each episode will focus on specific guitars played by Gilmour on some of the most well-known Pink Floyd songs ever written. The first will feature Gilmour’s famous Black Stratocaster, the instrument that played the first four chords of the legendary “Shine On You Crazy Diamond.” The June 7 episode will discuss the 12 and six-string Martin acoustics he used to write and record “Wish You Were Here.” The final installment, on June 14, will highlight Gilmour’s white 1954 Stratocaster, famously known for its serial number 0001, which he used on “Another Brick In The Wall (Parts Two and Three),” as well as during live performances.
Christie’s in King Street, London, was home to the collection in March, followed by a showcasing of a select number of the instruments in Los Angeles earlier this month. The legendary collection of instruments will go up for auction in New York on June 20.
