Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has taken 2017 off of the road after 2015 and 2016 tours. Gilmour recently released Live At Pompeii documenting a pair of 2016 shows at the historic site. This past Saturday night the legendary guitarist spoke about the live set on BBC’s Front Row and performed publicly for the first time this year.
David Gilmour spoke with historian Mary Beard about Pink Floyd’s famed 1971 concerts at the Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii. Beard then brought the discussion around to last summer’s shows featuring Gilmour’s solo band. The interview portion was followed by a gorgeous performance of “A Boat Lies Waiting” off David Gilmour’s 2015 album Rattle That Lock. Gilmour was backed by Roger Eno on piano and vocalists Lucita Jules, Louise Marshall and Brian Chambers.
