A posthumous David Bowie EP, David Bowie Is It Any Wonder?, made up of six previously unreleased and rare tracks will be issued on digital services over the next six weeks. Out today, on what would have been the legendary musician’s 73rd birthday, is a previously unreleased version of “The Man Who Sold The World.”
The newly available recording of “The Man Who Sold The World” was taken from the ChangesNowBowie album that will be issued on vinyl and CD on Record Store Day (April 18). The nine-track LP was recorded in November 1996 at Looking Glass Studios in New York City during rehearsals for Bowie’s 50th birthday concert at Madison Square Garden. The BBC originally broadcast “The Man Who Sold The World” during a special that aired on Bowie’s 50th birthday on January 8, 1997.
The new version of “The Man Who Sold The World,” which was the title track to Bowie’s 1970 studio album, features Bowie backed by bassist Gail Ann Dorsey, guitarist Reeves Gabrels and keyboardist Mark Plati. Stream it below:
