Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Load Milan Show With Tour Debuts
By Scott Bernstein Apr 8, 2017 • 8:46 am PDT
Guitarists Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds continued a rare European Tour with their third and final show of the run in Italy on Friday night. The pair fit four songs they haven’t played thus far in 2017 within their main set at Teatro degli Arcimboldi in Milan.
Dave and Tim immediately displayed their visit to Milan wouldn’t be like other tour stops by opening with “Seek Up.” Friday’s version of the Remember Two Things classic was just the second Dave & Tim “Seek Up” since 2003. Matthews and Reynolds then presented a career-spanning mix of songs from the DMB repertoire. The evening’s second tour debut came in the middle of the set, when Dave and Tim dusted off Daniel Lanois’ “The Maker.” Next up was “#41” and “Corn Bread” followed by the pair’s first “Mercy” since January 17, 2015.
As is a custom with Dave & Tim shows, Reynolds gave his mate a few moments of rest as he played a pair of solo tunes. Tim’s selections on Friday night were “Grab The Horns By The Bull” and “Manfood.” The latter song was followed by the unreleased rarity “Sister.” Matthews and Reynolds last performed “Sister” in the acoustic duo setting early in 2015. The guitarists then finished the set with “Samurai Cop,” “Warehouse” and “Ants Marching.” Friday’s concert came to a close with two encores. The first featured “Rapunzel” and “Dancing Nancies,” while the second consisted of”Crash Into Me.” Dave and Tim continue the tour in Portugal on Monday night.
