Dave Matthews Performs With Orchestra In New York City

By Scott Bernstein Nov 2, 2016 8:22 am PDT

On Tuesday night Dave Matthews played a short set at award-winning violinist Joshua Bell’s Seasons Of Cuba concert at Fredrick P. Rose Hall in New York City. Matthews was backed by the Chamber Orchestra Of Havana for his three-song performance.

Dave made his first appearance of the night when he joined Cuban singer-songwriter Carlos Varela in leading the orchestra through “Muros Y Puertas,” aka “Mirrors And Doors.” Matthews then fronted the Chamber Orchestra Of Havana and various musicians on his own “Samurai Cop,” “Here On Out” and “Ants Marching.” The guitarist had some trouble with “Here On Out,” which was a debut, but after a false start recovered nicely. Dave also contributed to the evening’s finale of “Guantanamera” with the rest of the musicians from the show.

Look for footage from last night’s show to air on PBS on December 16.
