Verizon Taps Dave Matthews To Kick Off ‘Pay It Forward Live’ Livestream Series
Dave Matthews will be the first musician to perform on Verizon’s new Pay It Forward Live streaming series. Matthews will play a 30-minute set starting at 8 p.m. ET this Thursday, March 26 at 8 p.m. ET. The livestream, featured on JamBase’s new Livestream Calendar, can be viewed via Verizon’s Twitter account and Yahoo Entertainment.
Pay It Forward Live will also incorporate gaming and comedy elements as well as music and more. Matthews will perform from his home just as other musicians will in future installments. Additional acts will be revealed at a later date.
The series aims to raise funds for small businesses affected by the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak pandemic. Here’s more information on the charitable element of Pay It Forward Live:
Understanding the toll of closing their doors to help fight the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Verizon will donate $2.5 million to Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a national nonprofit that has invested $20 billion to fuel economic opportunity for people and communities across America. Over the course of the series, all viewers who tune in will be encouraged to tag their favorite local businesses and make a purchase in advance for when the crisis is over and the businesses reopen. As consumers engage, Verizon will unlock an additional $2.5 million in funds, bringing the total donation to a potential $5 million.
Meanwhile, Dave Matthews was Jimmy Kimmel’s special guest on the Jimmy Kimmel Live YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Kimmel began with his daily mini monologue and then brought on Dave via video chat. Matthews spoke about his own quarantine situation, why he picked World Central Kitchen as the charity which Kimmel contributed to and performed a cover of Paul Simon’s “American Tune.” Watch how it went down below:
