Dave Matthews appeared on last night’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Matthews sat for an interview with host Stephen Colbert, and performed multiple songs, including the recently unveiled new original, “Making It Great.”

Matthews debuted “Making It Great” in January at his destination event he hosted in Mexico with Dave Matthews Band guitarist Tim Reynolds. Another unreleased original song, which Matthews introduced last year, “Peace On Earth” was also recorded as a web-exclusive video for the Colbert audience.

A third song, “Don’t Drink The Water,” from Dave Matthews Band’s 1998 album, Before These Crowded Streets, was performed by Matthews during his time on the Ed Sullivan Theater stage. DMB will embark on their 2026 Spring & Summer Tour in May.

Matthews and Colbert chatted about a variety of topics during the interview segment. Matthews talked to the host about the first concert he attended as a child, which was a Pete Seeger performance on a flatbed truck. Matthews went on to describe being inspired by David Byrne’s recent solo tour production.
