Dave Matthews Band Welcomes Members Of Soulive In Phoenix 2001

On May 15, 2001 Soulive concluded a run of dates supporting the Dave Matthews Band at Blockbuster Desert Sky Pavilion in Phoenix. Soulive was touring with saxophonist Sam Kininger at the time and Sam was joined by other members of the group in guesting with DMB as part of the show in Phoenix. YouTube’s OneEyedWilly5 has just shared upgraded video of DMB’s visit to Phoenix captured from video sent to the screens at the venue.
The highlight of the performance comes when guitarist Eric Krasno, keyboardist Neal Evans and Kininger emerge 12 songs into the set for a 20-minute “#41.” All three members of Soulive have plenty of time to show off their skills during the jamfest. The show also featured Kininger contributing to “What Would You Say” and Kraz helping to take “Jimi Thing” deep complete with a “Soulive” vocal jam from Matthews.
