Dave Matthews Band Serves Up Bust Outs In Colorado

After nearly a month off, Dave Matthews Band returned to the road this weekend to kick off the back half of their North American Summer Tour with a two-night stand at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Englewood, Colorado. DMB dug deep into their repertoire to fit a song they hadn’t played in years into each show in Englewood.

Dave Matthews Band opened Friday’s show with “Do You Remember,” one of nine songs from the recently released Come Tomorrow they would play over the course of the run in Colorado. The setlist on Friday was also heavy on songs from 1998’s Before These Crowded Streets including “Don’t Drink The Water,” “Pantala Naga Pampa,” “Rapunzel” and “Stay (Wasting Time).” One of the biggest surprises of the tour came six tunes in, when Matthews led the group through a cover of The Zombies’ “Time Of The Season.” DMB hadn’t performed “Time Of Season” since March 23, 2007 – a span of 902 shows.

The septet also kicked off last night’s concert with a Come Tomorrow track as “That Girl Is You” got the call on Saturday. DMB followed with classics “Seven,” “Seek Up” and “Satellite” before pulling “Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)” off the new album. A rare version of “Minarets” came next along with the staple “Grey Street.” Dave then played a solo rendition of “Here On Out.” The rest of the band then returned for the Big Whiskey & The GrooGrux King outtake “Write A Song.” DMB last played “Write A Song” way back on July 14, 2015.

Saturday’s show rolled on with the beloved “#41” and then Matthews & Co. served up the tour debut of “Superstition.” DMB focused on fan favorites over the rest of the evening including “Dancing Nancies,” “The Song That Jane Likes,” “Crash Into Me” and “Ants Marching.” The group went on to bid farewell to Colorado fans with an encore of “Some Devil” and “Tripping Billies.” Dave Matthews Band now heads to Bend, Oregon for a show on Tuesday night.
