Dave Matthews Band wrapped a two-night stand at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) in Saratoga Springs, New York on Saturday. DMB welcomed saxophonist Sam Kininger for a rousing solo on “What Would You Say.”

The guest spot on the Under the Table and Dreaming classic fell in the 11th song slot. Kininger was a longtime member of funk outfit Lettuce and joined his fellow former Lettuce player Rashawn Ross in the DMB horn section for “What Would You Say.”

Dave Matthews led the group through the favorite before kicking things over to Sam who delivered a piping hot solo followed by a short but sizzling trumpet run from Ross. Watch the performance below:

The concert opened with “Pantala Naga Pampa” which was paired with “Minarets.” DMB has been separating “Pantala Naga Pampa” from its Before These Crowded Streets companion “Rapunzel” on the 2024 Summer Tour. The first night of SPAC also saw DMB opening with “PNP” marking the first time the same song has opened consecutive concerts since 2007 when the unreleased rarity “A Dream So Real” held the distinction, as per DMB Almanac.

Elsewhere in the show, DMB offered tour debuts of “Proudest Monkey,” “Where Are You Going” and “Rhyme & Reason” along with covers of Billy Preston (“Will It Go Round in Circles”) and Led Zeppelin (“Fool in the Rain”). The recently revived Before These Crowded Streets rarity “The Last Stop” brought the main set to a close.

Dave returned to kick off the encore solo with another relatively rare tune, “Baby Blue,” off the DMB’s 2009 album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. The band rejoined Matthews to cap the SPAC stand with the classic closer, “Ants Marching.”
