Watch Dave Grohl Team With L.A. Philharmonic & Gustavo Dudamel For Surprise Coachella Appearance

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl was among the many guests who performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Coachella. Conductor Gustavo Dudamel led the set that featured appearances by Cynthia Erivo, Laufey, Natasha Bedingfield and CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso.

Grohl’s surprise Coachella appearance began with him playing electric guitar alongside the orchestra for “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” from Foo Fighters’ 2017 album Concrete And Gold. Grohl remained onstage for a subsequent performance of the Foo Fighters hit “Everlong.”

Cynthia Erivo joined the orchestra at the end of the collaborative set. The actor/musician performed her song “Brick By Brick” and led a cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain” with the aid of a gospel choir.

Jazz vocalist Laufey was first to share the Coachella stage with the L.A. Phil on Saturday. Like weekend one, she sang her songs “From the Start” and “Silver Lining.” Argentinian duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso also reprised their first weekend contribution by performing “Dumbai” and “La que puede, puede.” British singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield was tapped to lead the orchestra through the title track to her 2004 debut album, Unwritten.
