Dave And Ray Davies Meet To Discuss Potential Kinks Reunion

While Ray Davies has met with his brother Dave to discuss a potential The Kinks reunion, it’s clear the “i’s” haven’t been dotted and the “t’s” haven’t been crossed. The latest chapter in the “will The Kinks reunite?” story played out today, when U.K.’s Sunday Times posted an interview with Ray in which he confirmed his recent in-person meeting with his brother.

“I met Dave only last week to talk about getting back together again, we’ve also spoken a few times on the phone and emailed. He’s been composing his own songs, but I’d really like to write with him again,” Ray Davies revealed. According to Ray, both men agreed that a potential reunion has “got to be something new” as they “don’t want to do old stuff or tour with past hits.” The Times story has led to a few blaring “The Kinks To Reunite” headlines. Dave shared one of those articles on his Facebook page with a note stating, “I met and talked with Ray but nothing has been agreed on yet.”

The Kinks broke up in 1996 thanks in part to tensions between the two brothers. Both men gave interviews last fall discussing the parameters for a potential reunion and then again in December, when Ray told Uncut Magazine that a Kinks reunion is “as close as it’s ever been to happening.”

Stay tuned, who knows what tomorrow may bring with this story.
