23-year-old rising artist Dasha appeared on national television for the first time last night as the musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The Nashville-based singer-songwriter performed her viral smash “Austin” on the ABC late-night television program.

The independently-released “Austin” has racked up over 38 million listens on Spotify since the single dropped earlier this year. The song from Dasha’s debut country album, What Happens Now?, has blown up in large part due to a TikTok video she shared last month in which she pulls off a choreographed line dance to the chorus. Dasha’s moves have since been replicated by hundreds of thousands of TikTok users.

“Austin” entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week and currently sits at the six-slot on Spotify’s Viral 50 playlist after topping the collection earlier this month. “It’s been really wild, but also, I always knew it was going to happen,” Dasha told Country Now of “Austin” breaking through. “Right when I wrote the song, I was like, this is going to be a song that puts me in the map. I knew it. My manager knew it. I feel like my whole team kind of came around being like ‘yeah, this song’s gonna go crazy.’ It’s just been a wild though to see how fast it’s gone and how people are reacting globally. It’s been blowing my mind, so crazy.”

Dasha belted out the incredibly catchy “Austin” on Kimmel with her “shit” lyric bleeped out for the broadcast. A pair of dancers pulled off the moves from the viral TikTok clip behind her as she sang the verses. The vocalist joined in the dancing during the choruses.
