For years, a holiday tradition was Darlene Love’s annual appearance on David Letterman’s late-night talk shows to perform her classic song, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” which ended when Letterman stepped away from hosting duties in 2015. Love brought her annual late-night tradition to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to once again sing her Christmastime staple.
Love released “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” in 1963. She started performing it on Letterman’s late-night talk shows in 1986 and continued nearly every year through 2014. Last year, Love reunited with Letterman to discuss her yearly appearances. The discussion included Paul Shaffer, who was the bandleader for Letterman’s talk shows and regularly accompanied Love’s “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” performances.
