Grateful Dead tribute act Dark Star Orchestra announced their first tour of the new year. Dark Star Orchestra Winter Tour 2019 will feature 13 dates in February. The band also confirmed a handful of show recreations for their five upcoming shows in 2018.
Dark Star Orchestra follows their annual Jam In The Sand destination festival in Jamaica by kicking off next year’s winter tour at The Showbox At The Market in Seattle on February 7. Next comes a two-night stand at Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon spanning February 8 and 9. It’s then off to Eugene and Ashland before a stop in Paradise, California on February 13. From there, DSO plays The Warfield in San Francisco on February 15 and 16. The tour concludes with performances in Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Tempe, San Diego and Beverly Hills. Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 26.
While Dark Star Orchestra rarely announces what show they’ll recreate on any given night, they’ve given fans clues for what is in store at five select Fall Tour 2018 concerts. On November 11, at the Calvin Theater in Northampton, the band will recreate a historic Massachusetts Grateful Dead show. Then, DSO will go with a historic Portland, Maine area show on November 15 at the State Theater. Next, at College Street Music Hall on November 16, the tribute act will recreate the Dead’s infamous May 5, 1977 show in New Haven. Look for DSO to recreate a classic Albany area show at Albany’s Palace Theater on November 17 and classic Washington D.C. area show at The Anthem on December 1.
