The Peach Music Festival began on Thursday at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Thursday’s action was limited to two sets of Dark Star Orchestra on the Peach Stage and performances from Cabinet, TAUK, Zoogma and Deep Banana Blackout on the Mushroom Stage. DSO recreated a complete Grateful Dead show from 1977 with the help of a special guest.

Regular DSO keyboardist Rob Barraco did not perform with the band last night. Instead, Mookie Siegel (David Nelson Band, New Riders) sat-in for the entire DSO performance at the Peach Fest. Dark Star Orchestra recreated the show the Grateful Dead played at The Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey on April 27, 1977. The group threw in a “Not Fade Away” > “Going Down The Road Feelin’ Bad” filler for good measure after a pair of sets that included such fan favorites as “Scarlet Begonias” > “Fire On The Mountain,” “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo,” “Sugaree” and “Terrapin Station.”
