Daniel Donato‘s Cosmic Country played before a capacity crowd at Brooklyn Bowl in New York City on Saturday night. The band brought out guitarist Scott Metzger of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead for a two-song guest appearance to end their first set.
Both Daniel Donato and Scott Metzger are masters of the Telecaster guitar. While the Brooklyn-based Metzger put together his ensemble as a “Telecaster rock trio,” Donato has been favoring the Telecaster since his earliest days as a musician. Each guitarist used Tele-style guitars for their collaboration at Brooklyn Bowl.

Metzger emerged towards the back end of Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country’s first of two sets in New York City. The guitarist added to a rollicking rendition of live staple “Half Moon At Night.” Daniel Donato and Scott Metzger engaged in a spirited back-and forth towards the end of the tune.
Scott Metzger stuck around for a cover of Willie Nelson‘s “Devil In A Sleepin’ Bag” to end the set. Nelson originally released the song on his iconic 1973 album Shotgun Willie. Once again the guitarists exchanged fretboard fireworks with keyboardist Nathan “Sugar Leg” Aronowitz delivering a tasty organ solo in between Scotty and Daniel’s give-and-takes.
