Kitchen Dwellers and Daniel Donato's Cosmic Country joined forces in Denver this past weekend for a series of three co-headlining shows. Each night ended with collaborative encores featuring both bands sharing the stage.
The action started on Thursday with the first of two shows at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom. Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country and Kitchen Dwellers each performed full sets and swapped orders over the two nights at Cervantes.

All eight musicians returned following Kitchen Dwellers’ set on Thursday and began the collaborative encore with a cover of Jerry Reed’s “East Bound And Down.” Kitchen Dwellers then led the way through the pairing of their originals “Cabin Pressure” and “Drop Tine.” The first of the run’s three shows came to a close with a raucous version of the Led Zeppelin classic “Immigrant Song.”
Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country and Kitchen Dwellers chose “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way” to get Friday’s encore underway. The combined bands worked the Waylon Jennings cover into Donato’s “Sunshine In The Rain (Strange Presence)” before saying farewell with a cover of country supergroup The Highwaymen’s “Highwayman.”
Both bands moved on to The Mission Ballroom on Saturday to wrap the run. Donato emerged as Leftover Salmon mascot Mayor McCheese at the beginning of the bonus session. The final collaborative encore of the weekend started with a stripped-down take on Lulu Belle & Scotty’s “Turn Your Radio On” performed around a single microphone. From there the two groups played the Kitchen Dwellers original “Stand At Ease.” Cosmic Country and Kitchen Dwellers tore through Rage Against The Machine’s “Sleep Now In The Fire” to end the concert and run.
