Genre-defying Charleston, South Carolina band Dangermuffin have announced the upcoming release of a new studio album, Heritage, on March 31. The group will support the album with a Spring Tour that will continue through to the summer.

Dangermuffin’s new LP will contain eight tracks said to feature “a cohesive blend of Alt-Americana, Island grooves, folk and jam.” Heritage is the group’s sixth release and first to include Dangermuffin’s newest member – drummer Markus Helander of Finland. The album’s soaring vocals were recorded at Charleston’s historic Unitarian Church, a National Historic Landmark built in 1772.

The band’s Spring Tour begins at The Ale & The Witch in St. Petersburg, Florida on March 15. Dangermuffin focuses on the Southeast through the rest of March and in early April. Then, the group heads to Northeast for shows in New York City, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. From there, the foursome plays Woodlands Tavern in Columbus on April 18 and The Burl in Lexington on April 19 ahead of tour-closing performances in Tennessee and North Carolina. Expect additional tour dates to be revealed soon.
