D’Angelo & Princess Honor Prince On ‘The Tonight Show’

One of the more emotional tributes played in the wake of Prince’s death took place on last night’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Soul superstar D’Angelo teamed up with vocalists Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum, aka Prince tribute act Princess, for a stirring rendition of “Sometimes In Snows In April.”

D’Angelo picked the tender Parade ballad to honor Prince, which The Purple One actually recorded 30 years to the date prior to his death. At one point he changed a lyric to “I often dream of heaven and I know that Prince is there” and was moved so much he had a hard time with the next line. Watch the moving tribute:
