Watch Cymande’s KEXP Session At Noise Pop 2025

The performance was held at 25th Street Recording in Oakland.

British funk veterans Cymande performed a live session for Seattle-based radio station KEXP. The band’s set was recorded in February while they were in the Bay Area to perform at the Noise Pop 2025 festival.

Cymande’s session was part of KEXP’s Noise Pop programming from 25th Street Recording in Oakland. The set began with “Chasing An Empty Dream” and “How We Roll” from Cymande’s album, Renascence, their first album in over a decade that came out earlier this year.

The performance for KEXP featured co-founding guitarist Patrick Patterson and bassist Steve Scipio, along with keyboardist Adrian Reid, drummer Richard Bailey, percussionist Donald Gamble, trumpeter Kevin Davy, vocalist Ray Simpson, and saxophonists Tony Kofi and Denny Baptise.

Cymande closed out the Noise Pop KEXP performance with “Bra,” the standout favorite from their influential 1972 self-titled debut album. Watch the full session at 25th Street Recording, followed by an interview with host Larry Mizell Jr., below:
