Creedence Clearwater Revival formed in 1968 in El Cerrito, California. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the legendary Bay Area rockers, Craft Recordings released the first-ever official music video for the CCR classic “Fortunate Son.”
Guitarist and brothers John Fogerty and Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford formed the original CCR lineup, which lasted until 1972. Their many standout recordings include “Born On The Bayou,” “Lookin’ Out My Back Door,” “Run Through The Jungle,” “Long As I Can See The Light,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Down On The Corner,” “Who’ll Stop The Rain,” “Green River,” as well as covers such as “I Heard It Through The Grapevine.” The video for “Fortunate Son” was directed by Ben Fee.
“For me, protest right now is just showing pure positivity in the face of division and anger,” Fee stated. “I wanted to highlight the community and positivity that everybody shares … I wanted to show what America feels like when you actually hit the road and drive throughout the states. I met so many beautiful people. I went to the Taos Pueblo people, into their land, and met with the war chief, and they were very big fans of CCR. They were so welcoming because they knew the song and the band, and they really loved the idea of protest through positivity.”
