Chicago-based five-piece Old Shoe have been making a name for themselves thanks to their jam-friendly sound and ability to switch it up from night-to-night. On Friday night the band headlined The Canopy Club in Urbana, IL; where they treated fans to a mix of originals and covers that included Warren Haynes’s trademark tune.

“Soulshine” first appeared on bluesman Larry McCray’s Delta Hurricane album in 1993 followed soon after by its placement on the Allman Brothers Band’s Where It All Begins album in 1994. It has become a heavy-rotation staple at both Allmans and Gov’t Mule shows. Old Shoe’s version of the Warren Haynes-penned gem is true to the original.
