Cover Alert: Dawes And Shovels And Rope – End Of The Line (Traveling Wilburys)

AMERICANA ACTS TEAM UP TO COVER WILBURYS CLASSIC

JamBase favorites Dawes hit the road last week for a busy summer of headlining shows and festival appearances. For many of the band’s headlining gigs, they’ve brought along Charleston folk duo Shovels & Rope.

Last night, Dawes and Shovels & Rope visited Terminal 5 in New York City, where they combined forces for the evening’s finale – a cover of “End Of The Line” by The Traveling Wilburys. The Traveling Wilburys, a supergroup consisting of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne and Rob Orbison, released “End Of The Line” both on their debut album in 1988 and as a single in 1989 shortly after Orbison’s untimely death.

Since kicking off the tour last week, Dawes and Shovels & Rope have been pairing up to tackle “End Of The Line” at each show. In addition, Dawes has started covering Bob Seger’s “We’ve Got Tonight,” featuring drummer Griffin Goldsmith on vocals. Last night’s show at T5 contained performances of both covers.
