Courtney Barnett Shares ‘Need A Little Time’ Video

Guitarist Courtney Barnett is set to release her sophomore album Tell Me How You Really Feel on May 18 through Mom + Pop, Marathon Artists and her own Milk! Records label. The Australia-based singer-songwriter shared the video for the album’s second single, “Need A Little Time.”

Barnett made her debut with the 2015 album Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit. Last year she teamed with fellow guitarist Kurt Vile to record their collaborative full length Lotta Sea Lice.

The video for “Need A Little Time” was directed by Danny Cohen. A frequent collaborator with Barnett, he stated:

“Need A Little Time” has this soaring, floating feeling to it. I decided to play on the meaning of the song, Courtney needs some time away from herself (and you). I didn’t want to show Courtney leaving her friends/family/fans etc, it needed to be more metaphorical. Courtney floats through space and time, ends up in some isolated part of the universe. She finally has found some time alone, just Courtney and her guitar, singing in space without a care in the world.
