Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile Share Debut Single Off ‘Lotta Sea Lice’

As reported, guitarists Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile will team up for a collaborative album and tour later this year. Today, the pair have officially confirmed Lotta See Lice will be released via Matador Records, Marathon Artists and Milk! Records on October 13. Courtney and Kurt also issued a video for the LP’s lead single, “Over Everything.”

A statement about Lotta See Lice explains, “What started as a loose plan to record a couple songs with no plans for release, turned into this full-length-‘because the vibe was so strong,’ says Kurt.” The pair are aided on the LP by Mick Turner and Jim White of the Dirty Three, Stella Mozgawa from Warpaint and Mick Harvey. Photographer/videographer Danny Cohen directed the video for “Over Everything” and shot each guitarist on their hometurf.

Barnett and Vile will hit the road in October and November backed by a revolving lineup of supporting musicians dubbed The Sea Lice. Among those tapped to participate are drummers Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag) and Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint) and multi-instrumentalists Rob Laakso (The Violators, The Swirlies, Mice Parade) and Katie Harkin (Harkin, Sky Larkin and Sleater-Kinney and Wild Beasts touring member).
