Watch Courteney Cox & Brandi Carlile Perform ‘The Joke’

Actor Courteney Cox recently paired up with Brandi Carlile for a performance of the latter’s “The Story.” Cox shared video featuring her take on “The Story” with Brandi Carlile on Instagram.

Courtney Cox initially posted a video on Instagram back in February 2020 featuring the Friends star accompanying her boyfriend, Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody, on a rendition of “The Story.” Cox played piano on both the version with Lightbody and the more recent performance with Carlile.

“Dreams really do come true!! I got to play one of my favorite songs with one of my favorite artists, Brandi Carlile,” Cox wrote in a note accompanying the performance. “A little over a year ago I posted a video playing her song, The Joke, with @garysnowpatrol and that’s how we met (thanks Instagram!). We made a plan for her to come over on March 15th but…we all know the story. Well, it FINALLY happened!! So fun!! #thrilled #musicsundays”

“The Joke” was the lead single from Brandi Carlile’s Grammy-winning 2018 studio album By The Way, I Forgive You. Brandi’s performance of the song with Courteney ends with the duo embracing. “That was the most fun I ever had in my life,” Cox exclaimed at the end of the video.
