Next month, San Francisco-based band Con Brio will release their debut album Paradise. Today the soul rock outfit has shared the video for the LP track “Free & Brave.”
One of the 12 songs make up the new record set to be issued on July 15, the video for “Free & Brave” was directed by Frank Door and produced by Robin Easterbrook. Vocalist Ziek McCarter, guitarist Benjamin Andrews, bassist Jonathan Kirchner, tenor saxophonist Marcus Stephens, trumpeter Brendan Liu and drummer Andrew Laubacher worked with accomplished producer Mario Caldato Jr. on Paradise.
“Living in Oakland during the peak of the Black Lives Matter movement really impacted my relationship with the injustices and hardships we collectively endure in America,” McCarter told Afropunk who premiered the “Free & Brave” video ”My father was killed at the hands of law enforcement and I remember biking home from attending rallies and marches still feeling consumed and helpless. I then decided that I wanted my actions to reflect the love and liberation I wanted to see in this world. Working with Frank Door and Robin Easterbrook only crystallized that positive perseverance we all aimed to present with this song and music video.”
