Coldplay released an endearing video for “All My Love” starring famed actor and comedian Dick Van Dyke. The song appears on the Chris Martin-fronted band’s new album, Moon Music, which arrived on October 4.
Dick Van Dyke, who will celebrate his 99th birthday on December 13, is best known for his eponymous CBS television sitcom and for starring in the movie musicals Bye Bye Birdie, Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Martin lives close to Dick Van Dyke and asked him to participate in the “All My Love” video. The Spike Jonze and Mary Wigmore-directed visual was filmed at Van Dyke’s Malibu home and features clips and photos from throughout the nonagenarian’s illustrious career.
Dick Van Dyke also shares memories and insights interspersed in the video for the pretty ballad. “I’m acutely aware that I can go any day now, but I don’t know, it doesn’t concern me. I’m not afraid of it,” Van Dyke proclaims. “I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual, that I’m going to be alright.” Members of the beloved entertainer’s family make cameos in the video.
Chris Martin and Dick Van Dyke appeared on Thursday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The pair explained how they met and how the “All My Love” video came together.
