Coachella has a long history of hosting reunited bands and that trend will continue this spring. Iconic 1990s groups No Doubt, Sublime and Blur will each take the stage at the Southern California music festival returning to Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California over consecutive weekends, April 12 – 14 and April 19 – 21.
No Doubt’s classic lineup consisting of frontwoman Gwen Stefani, bassist Tony Kanal, drummer Adrian Young and guitarist Tom Dumont are the lone act featured on the 2024 Coachella lineup without a specific date(s) listed. The group known for such hits as “Just A Girl,” “Hella Good,” “Don’t Speak” and “Underneath It All” last played live back in 2015.
Original Sublime members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson will reunite with the late Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob Nowell as frontman. The trio will perform under the Sublime name at Coachella and other select 2024 festivals to “start a new chapter” after Gaugh and Wilson first played with Jakob last December at a benefit for Bad Brains’ H.R. “This is great because I haven’t had the opportunity to play with Bud Gaugh in over a decade; and to have Brad’s son playing our music is the closest thing possible to playing with my old buddy Brad,” stated Eric Wilson in a press release.
Blur’s Coachella appearances mark the band’s first confirmed U.S. dates since 2015. The English rockers — frontman Damon Albarn, drummer Dave Rowntree, guitarist Graham Coxon and bassist Alex James — reunited in 2023 for shows and festivals in the U.K., Europe and Japan as well as The Ballad Of Darren album following an eight-year hiatus.
