The Claypool Lennon Delirium Makes Live Debut In Orlando

On Saturday night guitarist Sean Lennon and Primus bassist Les Claypool kicked off their first-ever The Claypool Lennon Delirium tour at The Beacham in Orlando, Florida. Claypool, Lennon, keyboardist Mark Ramos Nishita (Beastie Boys) and drummer Paul Baldi (Fungi Band) focused on material from the recently released Monolith Of Phobos, but there were a few other treats thrown in as well.

The Claypool Lennon Delirium started Saturday’s set with three songs off their just released LP, “Cricket And The Genie,” “Breath Of A Salesman” and “The Monolith Of Phobos.” Les then led the band through “Up On The Roof” from his Frog Brigade project before the quartet worked through live debuts of “Ohmerica,” “Bubbles Burst,” “Mr. Wright,” “Boomerang Baby” and “Oxycontin Girl.” Next up was a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Astronomy Domine” followed by the live debut of “Captain Lariat” off Monolith Of Phobos. The quartet then covered a song co-written by Sean’s father John Lennon as they trotted out a jammed-out version of the Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows.” Saturday’s show only featured one Primus song as “Southbound Pachyderm” served as the encore. The tour continues on Tuesday night at the Georgia Theatre in Athens.
