Christmas Jam Pre-Jam | Setlist And Recap

Tonight marks the official start of the 25th annual Christmas Jam, which runs for the next two nights at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, NC. Last night host Warren Haynes gathered many of the performers from the main event and “By-Day” activities for the 15th annual Pre-Jam at Asheville’s Orange Peel.

The big news from the Pre-Jam was Haynes’s Gov’t Mule project reuniting with bassist Andy Hess, who left the group in 2008. Hess sat in for current Mule bassist Jorgen Carlsson on a cover of The Band’s “The Shape I’m In.” Haynes himself kicked off the show with a pair of acoustic tunes before performances by Free Radio, Cabinet, Kevn Kinney and an all-star band, The Artimus Pyle Band, Warren and Gregg Allman and the Gov’t Mule finale. Warren sat in with a number of the acts including with Kinney, whose band for the night also included Hess, Matt Abts and an array of performers.
