Chris Thile & Live From Here Band Cover Vampire Weekend

During this week’s episode of the public radio program Live From Here, Chris Thile hosted I’m With Her, the trio of Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O’Donovan and Sara Watkins, plus Mike Elizondo, Jeff Babko, Chris Eldridge, Alex Hargreaves and Ted Poor. Under the banner “The Live From Here Band,” the collective offered up a cover of Vampire Weekend‘s “Holiday.”

For the number, the group looked back to 2010, when Vampire Weekend released “Holiday” as the third single off their celebrated album Contra. Led by Thile on vocals, the jubilant cover saw the Nickel Creek mandolinist rely on his falsetto throughout. In addition to Thile, the performance emphasized the song’s rhythmic, bounding feel, with a highlight being a call-and-response between violins ahead of the bridge.
