Chris Stapleton Appears On ‘CBS Sunday Morning’

By Andy Kahn Apr 3, 2016 9:40 am PDT

Country musician Chris Stapleton has garnered plenty of well-deserved attention resulting from his 2015 Dave Cobb-produced debut studio album Traveller. Nominated tonight for seven Academy of Country Music Awards and coming off a pair of Grammy Award wins for Best Country Album and Best Country Solo Performance for the platinum-selling record’s title track, Stapleton is the latest musician profiled on CBS Sunday Morning.

Filmed largely in Paintsville, Kentucky near the town he grew up in, Stapleton describes his long journey from an often employed Nashville songwriter – penning songs for the likes of Adele, Brad Paisley and Sheryl Crow – to breaking out as an award-winning solo artist. The clip includes a bit of a performance featuring harmonica player Mickey Raphael and Stapleton’s wife, vocalist Morgane Stapleton (who is also interviewed by CBS’ Mark Strassman) on stage at a free hometown concert. It also shows the songwriter returning to his alma mater Johnson Central High School where he graduated at the top of his class.
