Chloë Sevigny Talks New Grateful Dead Documentary On ‘Today’
Summer Tour will be screened at 60 cinemas across the country on July 22.

Actress and longtime Deadhead Chloë Sevigny swung by Rockefeller Center on Tuesday for an appearance on NBC’s Today show. Sevigny spent time discussing Summer Tour, a documentary she executive produced centering on Grateful Dead fans following Dead & Company on the band’s final tour in 2023.
The Today interview started with Chloë Sevigny opening up about her new Peacock miniseries The Five-Star Weekend. Talk then turned to Summer Tour. “I’ve been a Deadhead since high school,” Sevigny recalled. “My first show was probably MSG in the ’90s.”
She went on to explain how she got involved with Summer Tour. “My high school boyfriend [Richter], who I used to go to shows with, had this idea to make a documentary following kids on the last Dead & Company tour. So we proposed it to the Dead & Company camp and they came onboard.”
Chloë Sevigny then revealed she had a Grateful Dead cover band at her wedding. “They’re called High Time, they’re from Brooklyn. They played at the cocktail hour,” she said.
Directed by Mischa Richter, Summer Tour premiered at the 2025 Telluride Film Festival. The 82-minute movie opens July 17 in New York City and Los Angeles. Nationwide one-night-only event screenings follow on July 23 at 60 cinemas.
