Chicago Cubs Add 2nd 2019 Grateful Dead Night

Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs will host their second Grateful Dead Night of 2019 when they take on the Oakland Athletics at Wrigley Field on August 5. Just as with April’s installment, The Cubs have once again teamed with Third Man Pressing to offer those who purchase tickets through a special offer a 7-inch vinyl record containing a pair of live Grateful Dead tracks recorded in Chicago.

Fans who buy tickets through the special offer here will get admission to the game and the 7-inch vinyl featuring the Dead’s performance of “Brown-Eyed Women” recorded at Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre on May 13, 1977 on the A-side and the band’s take on “Cumberland Blues” from the Auditorium Theatre on October 22, 1971 on the B-side. The vinyl was pressed in Detroit at Jack White’s Third Man Pressing.

One vinyl record will be granted for each ticket bought through the offer. A limited number of tickets are available as part of the offer on a first-come, first-served basis. Chicago-based funk act Zoofunkyou will perform on Gallagher Way from 5 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. before the game. A portion of net proceeds from Grateful Dead Night will benefit the Rex Foundation and its aim “to help secure a healthy environment, promote individuality in the arts, provide support to critical and necessary social services, assist others less fortunate than ourselves, protect the rights of indigenous people and ensure their cultural survival, build a stronger community, and educate children and adults everywhere.”

The Cubs held their first Grateful Dead Night at Wrigley Field on August 27, 2018.
