Charlottesville, Virginia-based public independent radio station WNRN will host a 24-hour fund drive with a Grateful Dead theme. The pledge drive is being called “24/’77” as the station will spend a full day and night playing music exclusively from the Grateful Dead’s 1977 live archive.
The 24/’77 Grateful Dead fund drive will kick off on WNRN at 6 p.m. ET this Friday, June 9 and continue until 6 p.m. the following evening. The theme was selected to coincide with the recently issued Billboard 200 Albums Chart Top 15 releases May 1977: Get Shown The Light and Cornell 5/8/77. Donations will include entry into a raffle to win one of several tickets to the Lock’n Festival as well as tickets to see Phish during one of their Baker’s Dozen Madison Square Garden shows this summer.
The station has posted a survey for Deadheads to share their favorite songs and sets from 1977, access it via this link. In addition to local radio broadcasting, the drive can be streamed online at WNRN.org.
