Texas native Charley Crockett appears in the latest installment of NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series. The singer-songwriter stopped by NPR in Washington D.C. last month and played a five-song set pulling from several of his recently released albums.

Crockett played acoustic guitar while backed by multi-instrumentalist Kullen Fox who played piano and trumpet on the opening song, the title track from Crockett’s 2022 album, The Man From Waco. Fox joined Crockett on guitar for “Are We Lonesome Yet” from the 2021 album, Music City USA. Another title track came next as Fox went back to piano for “Welcome To Hard Times” from the 2020 album of the same name.

Crockett then performed an unreleased original song, “The Death Of Bill Bailey,” which was inspired by the character in the Dixieland song “(Won’t You Come Home) Bill Bailey” and featured Fox on guitar. The set ended with “Odessa,” a song about the West Texas town that appeared on The Man From Waco.
