Stream Posthumous Charles Bradley Single ‘Lonely As You Are’

A posthumous new Charles Bradley single, “Lonely As You Are,” was released by Innit Recordings. The improvised track was recorded in late-2016 while Bradley underwent treatment for stomach cancer that took his life the following year at the age of 68.

Bradley’s final recording session took place at producer James Levy’s home studio in Queens, New York. Levy shared an in-progress demo with Bradley, who then created and recorded the accompanying lyrics that became “Lonely As You Are.” The recording ends with Bradley stating:

I love you. And this is Charles Bradley. I hope this one day gets out to the world.”

Bradley also recorded “Lucifer” during his last recording session, which will be released in May. Levy and co-producer Paul Defiglia enlisted Seth Avett and Mike Marsh of The Avett Brothers to complete the recording of “Lonely As You Are.” Listen to it here:
